stand alone charger question

If I make a stand alone charger , like SixVi6-Camaro's ishere , except without a dual cell:

1. Would this screw up my car at all
2. Would it give my car more run time
3. Would you recommend doing this

thanx for the imput, remember, I have the stock NiCD battery in there. Thanks guys

just be careful that you dont forget about it or you will melt that thing. why are you not doing dual batteries?

1. For a single cell, 4.5v is a bit much...4.5v is a bit much for a 2-cell as well. I would recommend to you to get a 3.0v AC/DC adapter and it'll be safer on the single-cell and still good for a duel-cell if you upgrade.

2. Yes, if you charge it for a longer time

3. Using an AC/DC adapter is actually a MUCH better idea than rigging batteries up as a charger...Because the AC/DC adapter is REGULATED on the voltage and most importantly the current (mA)

For your needs, I recommend something like the 3vDC/700mA Adapter from Radioshack. At 700mA, leave the car on the charger for 5 minutes and you should get a nice long runtime.

Or the 3vDC-12vDC/800mA for a buck cheaper!
