Unhappy 4-band controller is NOT working

does the tomy 4-band remote only work with booster bits? cuz for some reason, it won't work with either of my 27 mhz bits. i checked the frequency switch and it's set to 27mhz. i even tried switching it to all the other frequencies. am i doing something wrong?

What letter did you put it on. If you have a regular 1 speed car put it on A. there should be a switch on the back to do so.

thanx a lot for the help! it turns out that setting it to A worked. i thought i tried all three, but i guess i didn't reset the remote every time switched it. thanx again. now all i need to do is figure out how to expand the range on it. i think i'm gonna try the telescopic antenna mod. is there n e thing else i can do?

Try this antenna from Radio Shack:

270-1409

Had to drill one hole in the base and it fit great into my 4 band controller. No solder no hassle, even kept the original antenna coiled down inside (just in case the mod didn't work). Just had to notch plastic for it to fit through, screwed it in with the original antenna screw. I get a lot better range with it now.

So how much range do u get with this controller (unmodded) and without the capacitor? I'd like to increase the range of my Mach 5 and Skyline using this controller. Also where'd u order the controller from?

Unmodded I got about 15 feet (not exact) range. It is probably double with mod. I never did anything with capacitor. Also some frequencies and/or different cars seem to vary as well. I got mine from a hobby shop in Renton, Washington.

I didn't think there was a crip cap on the 4-band...at least not one anyone knew about? You might also try wiring in a 3rd AA battery to the controller. I hear that increases range significantly, though it might make the controller a bit uncomfortable. I don't think it would hurt the car when charging, since the controller regulates the voltage normally. I'm planning to wire one in today using a Radio Scrap 1AA holder.
