The problem I had was a contact problem. Try pointing the contact on the motor towards the front of the car. (the little metal tab on the motor) I found that helped.

R-spec seems like a good choice...bitmod1 charged me 16.50 for a 3.5

Did you try puting a razor blade under the metal tab and bend it up a little bit so it gets better contact? That helps alot of times. Try that.

Hehe...sorry I don't have any spares...but I suggest either going back to your LHS, or ordering motors that aren't meant for bit racers.

Well, I'm a Hoser too, but I didn't get any flack from border taxes...ToyEast is excellent with getting out of those...as for shipping and exchange, bitmod1 rammed me. I got charged $20 our dollars for a friggin 3.5!!!

I'M A HOSER TOO...LOL that means $20cdn. Still that's a huge ripoff just for a good engine, and it took a week or so to come from the USA. As for Toyeast, as long as you order stuff in substantial bulk, shipping won't rape you.
