Clear Coating a car...help me
I need to clear coat a car to get that glossy appeal. I hand painted the car with care and presision and didn't bother to tape up the windows. Can I just clear coat the entire car (windows and all), and if I do...will it change the appearance of the window glass?
Also, I did get a spot of paint on one of the windows. What can I use to remove it without making the plastic on the windows appear smokey?

For the spot of paint try a q-tip with a little nail polish remover, or depending on the type of paint you use you might be able to lift the spot off with an exacto knife.
The clearcoat, there are two ways I like to do it. If you can find a product called Future floor wax (wax or cleaner?) use that, many supermarkets carry it. What you do is pour some in a cup and then dunk your car in there and pull it out. The other way that works well for me is to buy a clear acrylic spray and just spray on how many coats you want. The more the glossier.
I hope this helped.

k thx! I used enamel paint. will the nail polish remover make the window cloudy looking though? Also, does the clear coat spray end up making the windows look 2 glossy?

YES DONT USE THE NAIL POLISH REMOVER!! it has acitone, which will melt the plastic over time and smoke up the plastic, so use rubbing alcohol, put some on a qtip and rub at it, it will soon come off.

The denatured alcohol will work as will thinner. The nail polish will not harm the car as long as it is wiped off aftewrwards with a wet napkin or even another q-tip dipped in water. I have used polish remover often to clean up over spray and have never had any clouding where as alcohol and thinner have clouded.
If I remember correctly enamel paint can be lifted off with an exacto just be very careful.
Edit: Nail polish remover (acetone) on lexan bodies is a definate no no.

oh, how about non-acetone nail polish remover? would it work better? i tried using the exacto knife idea but i just seem to be scratching up the window. my mom told me drinking and painting doesn't mix. i should have listened.
