To make mine I the tab off the back of the main chassis and then cut the other 'back' chassis right where the battery compartment meets the motor compartment...so the umm all hell lemme just go take some pictures of it i forgot how i did it...brb
here it is with my prototype trailer:

ok i lied before. I didnt cut anything off the primary chassis.
I just cut the secondary so the tab from the primary would rest on top of the shorter wall of the secondary part after being cut.
then i superglued them together, it took a few tries to get the two peices so they would be level with each other.
then I ran wires from the back motor to the front motor and *voom*
sorry, can't explain it very well today.
Note: these were clone cars from KB.
blurry images to follow...

i did it a differant way
i cut back off one car
then made small alluminium plate put 4 small holes in it & bolted it together using small bolts(see pic)
good thing is if you want to try normal car with 3 batteries take off back axel & motor &you have super fast car
you have to have more than 1 battery or it is way to slow

i was thinking more along the line of no extra part just trade batt power for solar power. then i would have more space in the actual chasiss. i would then put 2 holes in the side to for the wheels bu t the wheels would be so more like the front wheels than the back. no alxe. then i would have 2 motors in the center each powering one wheel in the back i would have the 2 motor mod so that in my entire bit there would be 4 motors
ill try to put up a diagram
i cant do this mod right now due to exams maybe later though

the trailer is kinda big in scale, i'm gonna make a smaller one still later, but i just bought a 1/8" x 2" x 36" piece of balsa wood from Ace Hardware for $1.75 and but all the peices from that then glued it together. one problem im having is that the bit axels are too short to look right on the trailer(only about half the width).
I think lego axles are longer but i don't have any around. Im gonna look if ace has same diameter metal i can replace for the axles.

gonna try making a single car trailer using the BCGP paper trailer dimensions, just remember to account for the 1/8" thinkness of the balsa wood.
I eventually wanna have batteries in the trailer with a hookup to the cab for power.
