Hitec shredder
I just got a brand new Shredder 2ch receiver, but can get it to work. Does anyone have any experience with this receiver? It's a 27 mhz AM and I want to use it with an Airtronics Blazer radio (with airtronics cyrstals).

The 27AM crystals should be interchangeable between manufacturer, so your Air set should work fine. You may have already checked this, but are you sure Pos/Neg/Signal wires are set properly on your servo and ESC plugs?

Was your shredder made for airtronics, jr, etc. My reason for asking is because Hitec and Futaba are negative shift, which are not compatible with positive shift such as airtronics, jr, ko, etc.

It is my understanding that frequency shift (pos for Air/Ko/Jr, neg for Fut/Hitec) is only a concern on 75-band receivers. 27KHz Rx's are not as picky. AFAIK, the only difference between versions of the 27-band Shredder are in the connector jacks shape molded in the cover, and in the case of the version for older pre-Z Airtronics servos, the pin order.
If the crystals are good and the pin configuration matches, then the receiver 2000-redrider has just might be bad.

I connected it to a battery pack and one servo (hitec) in order to test it. This should have been enough to make it operational, right? So does that mean the receiver is bad, since nothing happened.

It should work, but try hooking up your esc as well.

I finally got the receiver to work. I didn't realize that it had to be the "old" airtronics set up. After swapping the positive and negative wires, everything worked fine. Thanks for your help guys.
