Does the Epoch use the standard 27MHz AM crystal on its Rxa? Can I use my own Tx (27MHz AM) to control this car?

And is there any detailed review with pics showing the disassembled chassis and the internal components of this car? I'd like to see if it is possible to do any kinds of mod on this car.

Yes, standard 27MHz crystal, and yes, you can use your own Tx. As far as in-depth, under the hood review, it will be coming soon!

There is a pretty detailed review of the car on this board in one of the other topic discussions in this forum. I just received one of these and so far I am impressed. Body detailing is on par with the mini-z. The handling is in my opinion better than a box stock mini-z on my concrete basement floor. The lack of dual rate steering on the transmitter means you will have your hands full with turning until you get used to the controls. A stock mini-z has more top speed, but I can turn lap times on par with my stock mini-z because of the handling. I am sure that the mini-z would be better on other track surfaces. Once I get more AA batteries (I am now using the nimh batteries that I use in my mini-z transmitter for the Epoch charging stand) I will try my mini-z perfex transmitter with this car. The dual rate steering control and full size mini-z transmitter should allow me to dial the handling in just right. If these cars become popular, hop up parts are possible. The chassis seems relatively easy to work on because most major components are held to the chassis using philips head screws. Except of course everything is about half the size of a 1/24 scale car. This scale allows you to build more detailed tracks than you could with larger scale cars in a small area like a garage or basement. That is the appeal they have to me. I did not think I would have this much fun with rc cars this small until I tried it. If you keep your track size down to a realistic size, these cars could be a blast to race. If these cars catch on, I would love to see them offer a version without transmitter for about 20-$30 less. I am sure most people on this board would agree with this.

Wow, that's a great idea, since most people already have a decent 27MHz AM Tx!

I agree! All I've read about the stock transmitter are complaints, so not including it could be a good idea. It would certainly be a better option for me as I have a transmitter that I can use.

tinyrc, are you going to offer the Epoch without the stock transmitter?

Unfortunately we can't, and Epoch is unlikely to either. Honestly it's not that bad at all, just the plastic it is made of looks cheap, otherwise it's perfectly functional, and conveniently small.

Ok.

It's not really because it isn't a good transmitter, it's more because I already have a transmitter and I probably won't even use the one that comes with the Epoch.
