R-spec booster trouble
Has anyone else had any trouble running the r-spec engine in a booster? I've got a 57 Mhz booster and it runs really choppy and sporatically (sometimes works sometimes doesn't...and only has like a 2 foot range) with the rspec, unboosted. But when I hit the boost button it works perfectly fine, no problem. Also if I set it to the "boost always on" (I believe it's C) on the multicontroller it works fine. Anyone else experience this?

My only idea would be that somehow the boost is reversed. This way it is taking power away from the PCB for the motor, reducing reception? I dont know. Sorry

I have noticed that the unboosted signal seems to have less range that the boosted signal. Make sure you have fresh batteries in the controller. Also, any range or antenna mods really help. I got a fold over telescopic antenna from Radio Shack for my 4 band controller, helped out quite a lot.

yeah I noticed this too. I replaced the stock antenna on the car itslef with some cat 5 I had laying around and it helped a very small amount (not a whole lot). I'd also like to note that it works perfectly fine with any other motor which I found strange. It's only with the r-spec do I have trouble. Anywho...thanx for the advice I'll try the telescoping antenna mod for my multiband.
Edit: oh and yeah it does have fresh batteries. And as another side note, I noticed it works perfectly fine if I either charge the battery fully (in independant charger) or charge it 7 times on controller charger. Any additional thoughts anyone?

One other thing you could try is to break in the motor. I bought a 3.0 off ebay that I thought was junk. It just stuttered in every car I put it in, worked ok if I kept the controller about a foot above the car while running. Thought it was junk, so I used it to run down some batteries I was checking after a few solder/high charge rate mishaps. Decided to stick it in a microsizer one day, it worked awesome. Tried it in a few other cars with the same results. It is nearly as fast as my bitmod1 3.5 (which I broke in right out of the bag). To break it in I just ran it for a while with only the pinion gear on (no load).

Oh, one more thing, what gears are you running? I found that my booster was much smoother at low speed with blue gears (12:1), rather than the stock orange (9.86) gearsWhile running the 3.5 motor.

Yeah I thought I had broken it in...I can try it again. And I'm running the orange stock gears.

I heard somthin bout the using the booster controller w/unboosted cars. In this case I heard the controller only sends a pulse signal not a strait symbol.
