SUPER HIGH SPEED (3.8, dual bat, speed gears)
Has anyone run a 3.8 with the (I think teal) gears (high speed in the 3 gear and axle set) with dual battery? I have this need for speed, and with 8 points on my license, I kinda have to keep it on the kitchen floor . Are there any adverse affects to the circuitry of running 2.4 volts instead of 1.2? I've done some work with battlebots and I know that you really can't double the voltage through an ESC without melting it (but thats 48 on a 24 volt unit, so maybe the effects aren't as extreme with low voltages)? And also, the steering is done with magnets instead of servomotors, and the motor can probably handle the extra juice.
Anyway, input is appreciated, thanks a lot guys!
And also, would I be able to control this beast?

All replies are appreciated...I really want to know if I should go get another battery, or if I'll be too fast to control even with my single stock cell.

i have tiny's 3.8, a single 1.2 mah cell, and I have run it with the speed gears. First off you need _alot_ of room to get it up to full speed, and don't plan on turning cuz you will flip, but a 2 cell 3.8 will scream, I don't think you will run into any problems, you run the risk of burning out the motor if run to fast to long. Just keep it going straight and lemme know how it turns out.

Thanks, I'll probably get used to the 3.8 and speed gears before doubling my voltage.
That brings me to my second question: can the PCB can handle the extra voltage safely for the long term?

Thats kinda why I can't do a search....because for every like 100 about dual batteries, one will apply to my question of reliability. I'm gonna humor you and do a search now, but this thread was created to answer a specific question. Again, thanks in advance for your replies.

if i may ask, what did you do to earn 8 points on your licence??
how long is your licence suspended for, i would guess 6 months or a year.
anyway, good luck with your dual battery 3.8 bit char-g. that think will fly, launch if off a ramp!

In NY 11 points earns you a suspension or revokation, depending on how many times you've reached 11. However, since I was in my first 6 months of having my license, it meant a 60 day suspension and the 6 month period started all over. Points last for 18 months, I get my points off right around Christmas.
BTW it was 92 in a 55, good thing the tropper wasn't a mile up the road, I woulda got hit for 125 in a 55. I was coasting to slow down and he nailed me at 92. 3 mph below the 11 point marker. Still, $275 later, I was riding my bike for 2 months.
A PS--I don't think I'll be doing dual batteries, I just tried it and something got royally screwed. See my latest post on this forum about it.

Got up to 3.6V (42mAh) ... with bottom NiMh cells ... I manage to put 3 in series in the same place of the original 1/3 AAA.
No external batts or extra weight ! No body modification !
I use Bit-ChargG fast gear ... but I found out that the best motor for 3.6V is the 2.2 since it is more efficient then others !
Top speed now it is 11km/h ... vs 9km/h of 3.2 motor !
Accelleration is more impressive ... controll is good since it is a booster bit !
P.S: Top speed isn't too much since the little NiMh can't provide to much current ! At full speed the 4V drop to 2.6V !
e_lm_70
P.S: Using the bottom cell is the best mods for Bits and it is simple reversible, no soldering, and no work on the body !
I charge the car with a OEM controler with 5V DC instead of the 2x1.5V batteries !
