Question Help required

Hi,

I short while ago I purchased two standard Char-g, a Red Lancer Evo and a Honda NSX-R.

A few more people at work have recently purchased some, so we intend to race.

As mine both have 1.0 motors in them, I decided to get a couple of 3.0, as well as some gears, and tyres.

The problem I'm having is that when the 3.0 motors are installed in either car, I have no range. The car is out of range within an arms length of me. Or control is very intermittent. With the 1.0 motors in they could run to the end of the board room table no trouble at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Lee

You need to remove the cripple capacitor. Look into the FAQs. If you do so you should get about 20-25 feet of range.

Is it worth doing to both the car and the transmitter, if they both have one?

Atleast the transmitter. I dunno about the car because mine didn't have the capacitor on the car. I would be very careful if you remove the one on the car if you don't have a little electrical experience the traces are very tiny. There is additonal pictures and such on [url]www.tinyrc.com/qfm/racing/index.htm

I've checked the transmitter, it doesn't have one. I have however removed the one from the car. It's improved it a little, but it's still not really useable, without running around the table to keep close to it. And it's range is no where near what it was with the 1.0 motor in.

It's a hell of a lot quicker than it was with the 1.0 in though

Any more ideas?

Thanks

Lee

Check under neith the transmitters circuit board they have put some of them there. You might also want to change out the existing antenna on the car for a cat-5 netowk cable wire. This does involved soldering on the main board of the car and is outlined on the website above mentioned. I removed the capacitor on my transmitter and did the cat-5 modification and now have about 20-25 feet of indoor range which is standard for a bit with these mods. Good Luck. And if you need anything more ask.

I lifted the board up on the transmitter, no capacitor there.

Looks like replacing the ariels next.

I don't understand how swapping motors has done this though? Oh well.

Thanks again.

I've now replaced the ariel with some nice white/blue CAT 5 LAN cable. It's still doing the same.

What does get on my nerves is I paid full price for the Tomy cars, but the rest of the guys here, paid a third and got some odd copy ones, that I've not seen before. They go quicker, and go a hell of a lot further.

Mine manages around 7-8 ft at best, in doors on a table with me stood next to it. The cheaper varients are going 30 ft on the floor no problem.

Looks like I'll have to make do and sell the motors to some of the guys here.

Thanks.

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem yet, or better still knows how to fix it.

Merry Christmas.

Thanks.
