Mini X Noob...

I have a Mini Z and did alot of mods to it and now I am thinking of buying a Mini X. I have always wanted a 4WD mini RC car, but my problem is my limited knowlege on these new Mini X's. I plan on making a new frame for it that will allow for larger tires. My question is what will I need for one of these? I would buy the full kit but I don't know if that is the best thing to do. Considering I will be modifying alot. One think I know I need is a new speed controler that has the brake/reverse function. I also plan on getting a diffrent motor. What should I buy and where should I buy it?

id224299, we have the Mini-X kit and all replacement and hop-ups available in the Shop here:

http://tinyrc.com/shop/products.php?pid=4

We're the primary US dealer for these, and offer more parts and better support than anyone else you'll find! Honestly I would say to use the full kit as your basis, as you'll save a ton of money by getting the electronics and everything in one package. If there's anything specific you need to help you with this project, just ask!
