Yesterday I used a wire wheel for cleaning rust off metal to scuff the stock tires. It went rather well - run it perpendicular to the wheel to scuff the middles and then in line with the wheel to get the edges. The wire bristles left some small "tread" marks in the rubber. I tried it out today at a smooth tennis court and they did pretty good. Its the first time outside with the DRR so nothing prior to judge against. The only time the back end got wild was immediately after I went through a small damp patch. Then back to solid.
I did find out an interesting move which made me look like Jim Rockford ala The Rockford. Full Forward - top speed to full reverse = 90 degree whiplash turn. Then full reverse let off the throttle and hard left/right. Anyone else try this?
BTW, for people under 30 - "The Rockford" pays tribute to the great TV PI Jim Rockford of the Rockford Files. Damn, I always wanted one of those sweet answering machines circa 1973 with the big tapes and the size of a modern day VCR!
Thats a pretty good tip! I don't run mine outside often (in fact I did today for the first time ever just to see how fast it was with 7.2volt 700mah NiMH batteries with all my other stuff, one comment-in a old cartoon voice-"duhhh, where did it go george, where did it go?")
This is alot faster than sitting there with an X-acto knife and cutting out groves like I have heard people saying to do before.
