clone ctlr works on ZZ but ZZ cntlr doesn't work on clone?

Question for the EE gurus here...

I picked up a 49 MHZ clone for 10 bucks, which I was going to use to swap the pcb board on my ZZ.

Funny thing is that the clone transmitter controls my ZZ car, but the ZZ transmitter doesn't control the clone car.

Can anyone provide a theory as to what is happening here? Both crystals are the same frequency, so I was thinking perhaps it has something to do with the low pass filter, but that doesn't explain controlling the ZZ car with the Clone transmitter, unless the ZZ controller LPF is so weak that it is not getting enough signal out (wouldn't even run the car touching antennas).

Any ideas? Can't seem to find a Panther or Shen-Qi-Wei for the 49 MHZ PCB swap, so I decided to give this clone (Super Racer) a try.

Don't want to spend ~30 bucks on an MS to swap it's board out.

I'm no engineer but I would think that the ZZ controller is built to a more exact tolerace. Kind of like how the LXX 27mhz controller can run even the other frequency cars. Click me and read the news dated 11-30-2002 on the right hand column

could be

That makes sense...

Leaves me with a dilemma...who has done a 49 MHZ swap, and what clone as used for the swap?
