Question Newbie that needs some tips...

Getting a Mid-24 RX-7 kit...

I don't really know what i'm getting myself into, but it should be fun. I don't have any electronics for it yet... I haven't made a choice of motor or anything yet either.

Any tips that people have for me will be happily received.

i don't own one, but i was going to buy one a few weeks ago. because there is very limited room for electronics, you should keep everything to a minimum. i recommend the airtronics es-01 electronic speed control$30, small receiver such as novak xxl or hitec shredder. you will need a radio$30-50. most come with receivers, but the entry level ones are way too big. i recommend getting a radio only magnum sport from futaba $40. then you would need a small servo. im not very familiar with what one should use, but probably a hitec unit which is $20-30. you will also need "dry" or rechargeable AAAs. i recommend AAAs from gp. these can all be purchased from tinyrc.com. just email tiny. you could always go to www.towerhobbies.com or www.microrcracing.com as well. hope i was of some help.

I would say getting a HiTec HS-85MG mini servo, $30, which has metal gears and bearing. Better than HS-81. Then, I would get LRP Quantum Micro Reverse ESC, $90, or Novak Spy Micro ESC, $56. For Radio Tx & Rx, I would suggest KO Propo EX-1 Mars-R, $240, or any pistol style radios you can afford but trying to get a micro size recevier. I would choose FM or PCM radios instead of AM radios. Also, you should get full bearing set for your MID kit. If you get an extra money, I would upgrade to 7.2v NiMH battery pack and Team Orion Elite Coreless modified motor. I would also get a 9T steel pinion.

I might be wrong on pinion gear. I was using 9T for my micro. It might not be the case on MID.
