well i jacked up my paint job so i just repainted it. its got metalic red flake on it now and i thought id add some flames too it instead of just stripes like my old job. but i dunno how to paint them... the stripes i just took mailing labels and cut out the center then put on car and painted it but when i took it off it left that glue mark on the paint so i didnt like that and it took a while to get off. i designed some flames in photoshop and printed out on white paper. could i use a exacto knife to cut the pattern out and lay the paper on the car then paint?
the only problem i see with that is getting the paper to lay flat and not buckle otherwise id get over spray. got any ideas?
oh yea, I also bought some transparent candy apple red spray to use for the flames to create a ghost flame effect.. think it would work? or should i put an opaque white down first then the paint to make it look more ghosty?
thanks

Hmmm painting flames take me back to my Ad&D days. Anyhow. Make a red base for the flames and yellow nearing the top. Dont worry how it looks. Just make shades going from red to yellow. Then you need wash. Wash is an ink based paint. Take red wash and gradually add to the yellowq until you get a flame effect.

3M makes a "fine line" masking tape for autobody painting. It leaves no tape marks, just for such things on real cars. You can get it at auto paint supply shops. It's a little expensive, but it would probably last a lifetime painting bits.
