Newbie Questions

Ok, I recently aquired a ZipZap from RadioShack. I got it out and played around with it a bit. It didn't go very fast so I got a little curious. Before I had bought the ZipZap, I bought this little RC car called a Micro RC FitRacer from Walgreens. The problem with it was that it was too FAST. It spun out every time I turned. So, I changed it's motor with the ZipZap's stock motor. Instant change. The ZipZap went faster and the FitRacer went slower, which it what I wanted. However, the FitRacer's moter didn't improve the ZipZap's speed by ALOT, so I wanted to buy a better one. I wanted to buy a Turbo or a NOS, but RadioShack is all out. Then I found DKS motors (http://www.driftkingshop.com). They are even faster apparently. Does anyone know if the DKS 2.8 Monkey Rotor, the DKS 2.6 Monkey Rotor, or the Tomy Micro B 2.2 GS-02 will work with a stock ZipZap? NOT a modded one. I don't want to screw it up.

Next question, the company claims that a ZipZap will run for 5 minutes on a full charge. Mine runs about half that. I've tried both the ZipZap's stock motor and the FitRacer's motor. Same results, just the FitRacer's goes faster. Any suggestions? I don't have much electrical expirience so a no mod solution would be best. However, I'm willing to try if it's NOT too hard.

Finally, what other Micro RC parts will work on ZipZaps?

i orderd my 2.8 monkey rotor but it still hasnt come, but when it does i will give u the info on it. It does work for ZZ just make sure to buy the one for ZZ, they have them for Bits,Lxx, and zz. i think u should just go with the 2.8 cuz the F&F are really hard to find and if u find it on ebay its like goign for $30, plus the 2.8 go faster. i hoped this helped

From what I understand the 2.6 is as high as you can go and notice improvement in a Zip without mods. I haven't tried it myself and am going by what I have read on this subject.
As to the run time, make sure the batteries in your controller are new, and you can try cycling them a time or two to condition the new battery in the car. Charge it up with new batteries in the controller. Turn the car over or raise the back wheels off the ground and let it run in forward or reverse until it dies. Repeat a couple of times. This conditions the charge curve of the NiMH in the car and may give you longer run times.

OK, I'll try new batteries. Come to think of it, I don't think they're new. By the way, microsizer, let me know what happens with the 2.8. If it doesn't work I'll go with the 2.6. Also, have you all noticed that off-brand Micro RCs seem to have better motors? What's up with that?

P.S. - which car bodies, gears, and rear axle gears will work with ZipZaps?

im kinda pooped rite now. I bought a BC-G 2.6 motor and it has failed to work without modding. It will spring into action like once every 5 minutes. not enough current running through it. I'll work with it and tell u guys the results later.

OK, EVERYONE post a reply when you know it'll work with a ZZ or not. Preferably a DKS 2.8 Monkey Rotor or a the DKS 2.6 Monkey Rotor since they're MADE for the ZZ. I'll probably use the 2.6, but I'd LIKE to use the 2.8. (However, it depends because I was charging the car on batteries that were half full. The unknown motor that I'm using might be enough.)

PS - which Mocro RC parts (other than ZZ) will work on a ZZ!? (bodies, gears, motors, rear axles, etc...)
