funny purchase

I've been dropping by a coupple diffrent Radio Shacks to get a ZZ. I went in to the one close to my house, and asked when they expect more in. The manager got that weird look in her eye and went to the back. She said "We have these two only- they are the same frequency and body. You called, right?"
I mumbled "Sure", and bought one. I'm glad somebody called, but it wasn't me.

She tried to sell me batteries, and I said no, because I have a pile already. She starts telling me that if the store dosn't sell batteries, they won't get as many cars as they requested on their order.

What a pile of carp---

The sad thing is, knowing commision based sales, I wouldn't doubt it. One sales guy told me that there is a warehouse full in Ft. Worth right now, and they will trickle them out untill X-mass. So wait, be patient, and if they ask you if you called, tell them sure.

PS- sorry if you did call, and I snagged it from ya.

well, it's a black civic, 27mhz.
I'm going to put a buick Grand National body on it, and do a dual cell conversion.

I gotta say - for the price - the Zips aren't that bad.

Damn dude, thats ****ty. And it was a black civic too. Poor bastard that put em on hold is gonna be super pissed. I know I sure would be.

But you did what you had to do. I guess, and I'm not advocating this, but I think peeps would prolly have better luck walking into RS and saying, "Hi, I called earlier, you guys are holding a zipzap for me". If they have one you will get it. If they ask yer name say jim or something.

My buddy just sold his GN to a guy that owns a speed shop in Amarillo.

Yep, a total pile of carp! If it is true, then it's completely unprofessional for them to make it your problem instead of theirs, and the only way to combat it is to not buy batteries so that they will see that they should base the number of cars each shop gets on how well the cars themselves sell!

I finished it

I got the body to fit, and it looks OK. I had to cut thru the fender flares a little bit, and made the body fit while there were no batteries in it. The dual batteries make the PCB stick up a little, but I'll get after it with ye olde dremel and make it work a little better. Plus I gotta grab the digital camera and take a pic of it for ya'll. Where do you guys get your macro-lenses?

If it was your civic- you can get annother, they had two- probably more the way she was acting.... Funny thing about the card that comes with it- it says that it has a 2.2 L motor.... with a displacement of 220cc's.... pretty good- a miss-print right on the card.

I gotta say out here a pile of carp is a lot worse than the other stuff, you gotta have carp trucked in around here...

I've bought so many I can't even call in and pick them up. They think I'm selling them on Ebay. That was my first intention when I bought ten one time, but screw that noise...these are staying with me. Any extras will go to my nephews at Christmas.

That was pretty evil ssaying you called, but I would have done the same thing.

I heard this battery thing before. So, one day I was really POed at RS and wrote their corporate offices. I bitched about availability and mentioned the battery rumor I had heard and what a load of carp it was. They wrote me back and said they where doing all they could to please and the battery thing was untrue and never would be their policy. Now, I read that a RS employee told you this point blank. Man, It's enough to put you off these things. I guess the bright side is that so many new people are getting to see how RS does buisiness that the complaints will soon stack to the ceiling. Call the District Manager on her sorry butt. See what he thinks of the battery scam. Does kinda make you see why they put AAAs in Zips rather than AAs. They don't hold as much current and need to be replaced more often. Gawd I hate 'em. Well, OK, it's becoming an extreme dislike.

Ohhhh, so close, yet so far away.

I'm 2 blocks away from thier corporate offices right now. Funny thing is, thier storefront here in downtown Fort Worth is one of the more difficult to get Zip Zaps at. The 3 that I've found/bought have all been at stores miles away from here.

No problem

I had no problem picking up my ZipZap. I just waltez into the closest radio shack by my house, and they had maybe 20 of them lined up behind the front desk. I was really confused for about 5 minutes, cuz they had this stand in the front with ZZ accessories. There was no sign saying to ask for them, so I thought that was all they had. So I was about to leave when the guy says "Hey you lookin at ZipZaps? (One of the nicer guys, probably cuz he was like 76) So he walks me behind the counter, and wow. I see like 10 red porsches 15 black civics, and a bunch of other random cars. I decided to go for the classier looking of the two, and smashed through the front window and flew into my car.

P.S, the last part is not true.

So if they don't sell you the batteries does this mean that they won't get any other items like the talking alarm clock as well? I'm sure the store was having a sales contest to see who could sell the most batteries in a week. The winner would get an extra day off or something like that. We did that all the time at my previous job. Just find something that made a lot of gross profit, and try to move as much of it as you can. And what with all the BS that they have to take your name and address when you buy a $1.49 part?
