Handling Characteristics

I'd like to hear how the handling is on some of these M-chassis cars are.

The difference between the short and long wheelbases. . . .

Front Drive and Rear Drive . . . .

Which platform seems to handle upgrades(hotter motor) better. . . .

etc. etc. etc.

I know these aren't performance demons but I'd just like to know so I know which kind to get.

I'm actually looking for a drifter, a little tail happy chassis I can swing out.

ive ran both rwd and fwd cars and i found the rwd to be super tail happy cuz of all the weight in the back (battery and motor) i would find that i would spin out if i hit full throttle from the start. the problem with the rwd drive m-chassis is the gear box has the opening on the wrong side, and thus you have to use a reverse rotation motor (usually sold in pairs that company's made for the clod buster.) so the fwd are able to use the better motors.. i would imagine that the longer wheel bases would give you more drift. hope this helps.

Why can't you just reverse the lead wires to get the motor to run the other way?

I only have the M-03 (right now <evil grin>) and have only driven a stock M-04L once.

I must say the 4 handled nice. its a big change from FWD. I could drift it for awhile but it was hard to maintain it as it didn't have enough power to push though it or it would come out of it to easily. I suspect becuase the stock motor could not sustain higher revs with out bogging down. Also my driving it for teh first time probly has something to do with it. it had a S2000 body on it....

But My babe my M-03 even with it being FWD I can drift it. I haev hard stock compound tires on it in the rear and some HPI X-patterns in teh front which give really good grip. Since the front has more grip then teh rear teh rear always wants to step out and with my suspension setting (hard sway bar in teh front and soft in the rear) this adds to that behaviore.

this is how I drift it, I go as fast as teh straight away will allow me too, then I let off teh gas completly, make a quik and sharp turn the tail kicks out.
I haev no need to counter steer I just hit the power on and since its FWD it will correct itself. Also you need a pretty powerful motor to due I'm not able to due this with teh stock motor.

I do like the handling of the FWD better.

It also can train the driver to be a more skilled driver. As the driver need to rely on finding the line in the corner rather then relying on RWD to help kick the rear around to take teh turn tighter. With FWD you can't miss your line or you will understeer and possibly go off course.

Also I'm back now I was on vacation for ahwile....just got back monday...

mo2 gearbox

yes the m02 has the gearbox in the way so you cant adjust the timing on mod motors but i have obtained a tech racing aluminum rear end that reverses the side the motor mounts on so you can run the motors in the correct direction.
