New 1/43 Proportionate car at Radio shack
I was down in Radio Shack this Weekend looking around for sum parts that my Dad needed. On the way to the cashiers desk, I say on display a Viper, suprisingly it looked like a mini-Z and i was wondering wut they were doin with sumthing like that. so i picked it up and observed the most that i could. (Long Line be hind me)
The car is made by radio shack and (surprisingly) its fully proporitonate at 1/43 scale.
-Teh car is toped with a Viper body and i dont know really if its remoable or not. MayBe screwed in. it features lites n trun signals
-The charger is powered by 4 ( or more...) AA (or AAA) and can be used as a display stand. It is seperate from the TX. The TX is pistol gripped and can be folded to make use of travel- and can control the turn sigals
-The rear suspension is like the mini Z without any shock bodies.
And the front im not sure
I think its powered by sumthin larger than wut the Bits or Zips use or maybe its 4 of those. I dont really know. i just know for certain that its Light Green.
And finally wut every body wants to know, the price..... 49.99

I reviewed this car last week somewhere on this forum. To sum it up, the steering is a little slow and noisy, the body attaches with 6 screws, the rear suspension is similar to a mini-z except it's molded to the chassis and not replaceable. The front has kingpins and springs. It takes 2-3 minutes to charge and runs 3-5 minutes. Spins out on slick tile floors, but hooks up pretty good on smooth concrete like a tennis court. No differential makes handling unpredictable. The signal, hazard, and head lights are controlled remotely. It's a fun car to have and the size and lights are a novelty, but it is a Radio Shack car, not a hobby level machine. I like mine for the price, but it won't see as much use as my nitro cars, mini-z, or zipzaps.

Pleased with RS Viper for the money. Controllable, fast, rugged and, yes, noisy steering.
Does anyone know of RS plans to offer upgrades/more body styles? It seems to me that the availability of these has been a major factor in the success of Bits and ZZ's.
By the way, RS was out of ZZ's, as usual, but the manager directed me to a mall kiosk selling Bit clones. Nice touch.

Probably against company policy, but hey, good to see that they employ real human beings!
