Hello, my second Dnano and part's came in today!

Aluminum hub's and steering plates! These just arrived at the shop yesterday same time my payment did!

Here's the set up board set up.

Will post pic's of the build as I continue. Right now I gotta have lunch!

Here's the upgrading in progress.
The alloy parts.

Motor mount removed. Here I'll be replacing the stock motor with the Xspeed motor, as well as installing the ball bearings and the aluminum rear hub's.


The rear bearing's are almost same size as normal Mini-Z bearing's for the front.


Here is the differential out with the hub's removed. Wonder if anybody will do a ball diff upgrade.

When working on your Dnano, this is a handy tool to have. The set up board has two shelves on either side the magnifying glass. These shelves are magnetic and keep the screws from getting lost!

Here are the aluminum hub's which will be installed next.

One hub mounted.

Both hub's mounted and motor mount assembly near complete.


Now installing the aluminum front steering plates. You'll have to remove the front body mount off the plastic piece and reinstall it onto the aluminum version. Make sure the lettering is facing on top just like the stock piece.

Here's the bottom view of the front plate.

Next, install the front wheel bearings. These are very tiny so be carefull not to lose theme!

I dont' know if you can see theme, but there are the gold "hard" springs in there.

Stock Dnano chassis left, full-option chassis right. Next on list of parts are tires.

With the test run I made at home, I honestly did not see the difference with the gyro unit. Perhaps I'll notice it's function more when I race it on RCP track. The Xspeed motor is faster, and the bearings make it smoother and seems to be quieter in my opinion.

In case anybody is wondering about the added weight from the aluminum, don't worry. I put both the stock one and hopped-up one on a scale and both weight exactly the same, 25 grams without battery. Seems like the aluminum does not add any weight to this thing but should provide the front knuckles with protection.

A side-note on the aluminum peices. When you order theme, you have to specify your particular model as there are different sizes for each body.

Marc, looks like you installed the gyro upside down. The chips go down and you are supposed to reinstall the cover over the gyro. Flip that thing over and put the cover on.

Oh! DUH! Maybe that's why I didn't notice any difference in it. Thank's for the input! I'll try it again correctly. Perhap's gyro's don't work upsidedown? Hmmmmm, Will do that, thanks!

Well, I tried it mounted correctly, and still didn't see much a differnece. The cover still can't fit because the chip block's the cover's peg's that lock it into place. Again, I probably won't notice the gyro's effect till I race it on RCP.

I was able to put my cover back on. I'll take a look when I get home tonight and see what may be going on with yours. To see the gyro in action hold the car upside down and and give it throttle and rotate the car slightly you should see the wheels trying to auto correct.

Forgive if you've covered it already, I'm jumping into this thread from 4-5 threads away and from mini-zracer.com. Where are you buying your kits and parts from? Looks awesome!

That is where to go for Dnano stuff right now. Prices are cheaper than going to ebay as most of the ebay stuff are over seas. This shop is located in Florida so it's sort of speak local. Very nice guy there, has everything Dnano, and ships very fast.

Hey I was wrong about the cover! Oops. Yes, you can't put the cover back on. The chips should be down and the printed side up.
