Personally, I have 800mah, and have only seen some that go up to 1300mah. You can go as high as you want, it wont hurt the xmod, just give you great preformance and runtimes.

The highest capacity "quality" brand (Maha, Sanyo) I've seen for the AAA is 1000.

Depending on what you mean by "performance", if you're looking for longest runtime then the NiMH batteries are the way to go.

well i picked up some 1200mAh NiMH batteries off of ebay for 20 bux... 12 of them... they arent any main stream brand tho...
so i guess my next question would be... has anyone actually tested "no-name" brands against the others like sanyo and the like?

Some work better than others. The cheap ones are all that way. I really like my assia ones I got, but the powerizer ones suck. I also run into problems with the plastic outsides starting to peel off on the cheap ones.
It's basically hit and miss, I hope they work out.

I think my assia batteries are rated at 1150, though I think they have new ones that claim 1250. I don't think they have that much more capacity than 900mah energizers, but they do hold a good charge and have been able to be charged in my 15minute charger. They've worked out for me, I would buy more.
I got them off of ebay. I'm not sure exactly who sold them, but they don't advertise them as assia. I think you have to look at the pictures or something to figure it out. It might help to search for 1250 with AAA as well.
