X-Trek @ TRU ** PICS **
anybody buy one of these kits? They are $50, comes with 2 cars, 2 controllers and a bunch of track. The controllers look programmable, and the cars have more functions than fwd/rev left/right

I got a set, started playing with it today. It is fun although one car needs some help it doesnt turn to one side almost like it is to light on one side to get traction to turn. The other car in the set works great and yes you can program different moves into them. They steer only with the rear tires and have two speeds at the trigger plus a switch on the bottom of the cars for normal and turbo. They have two charging stations one that clips onto the transmitters and ones that are part of the track (way cool - just drive into charging station for a quick charge)

altho they tend to have an ugly cartoony look like the digiQ's and the rear wheel steering type setup like them they still look like they'd be alot of fun... especially that pit stop charger thing. people have been trying to do that with bits so if we could see how these are setup maybe we can make our own with bits... Slugbugg: can we get a close up picture of both the bottom of the cars and the pitstop track please.

I posted two pictures at this link below.
http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mlc...+stuff&.view=t
The left picture shows the detachable charger.
The charging system is simple, there are two metal tabs on the bottom of the car that lay vertical that slide up against the metal strips on the drive through charging base.
The cars cannot be charged in reverse because there is a little tab of plastic on the car bottom that must go into the groove on the charging base to allow the charging tabs to connect.

So would you say the kit is worth the price? Im debating whether or not to get it and bring it to work for a little lunchtime fun with some other peeps.. might even run my microsizer on the track. Im also wondering where you can buy the larger kits at, or do we have to wait for TRU to pick them up aswell.

Its ok, I did have trouble with one car, the gearboxes were a little off, the right rear was slightly higher than the left and the car would not turn to the left(no traction).I had to mess with it alot before I got it to work.
The cars have left/right drive wheels that allow it to turn.
I feel it is a good set for fifty bucks but that is just my opinion.
The cars are programmable and will do some wild stunts.
I'm thinking of trying a chassis/body mod just to lengthen it a bit and lose those lame bodies.I'm wondering if I could use the front of a clone and just sort have the front wheels act as casters.

Even the smaller track I got is quite large, this table is 5'x3' and its only about half as long as it needs to be. Id suggest at LEAST a 4'x8' workspace to setup this track.

Upclose shot of the drive up charging system. Bottom side of car has 2 slots, with metal tangs (springs) that ride against the charge rail.

MicroSizers and Bits will have problems running on this track because the track is too wide for them and has holes in the middle.. the tires get stuck. MicroBrutes are too big to fit on the track. Track size is roughly 1 1/2", minimum vehicle tracking width is 1 3/8" to not get stuck in the holes. My 350z is 1 1/4", just 1/8" shy.

Anyone else get one of these yet?
I been trying to find a set up here in North East PA, I tried TRU, they told me (on the phone) that they didn't sell X-Trek in the stores, I called Silverlit (company who makes the X-Trek) and they gave me alist of other places, one of which was Bed, Bath and Beyond, and they have a 48 foot track set, and also seperate car and transmitters ($49.99 and $19.99 respectively)
the first one I bought I had a porb with, one side the wheel spun and it wouldn't reverse properly, took it right back and they let me test it there in trhe store.
(also as an aside, TRU DOES sell the sets, I went there also yesterday, they had 2 sets, with 36 feet of track and 2 cars and 2 pit stops, also 49.99)
