finished up stetching my mt today.
i'm planning on mounting a 1/24 scale jeep cj body on it to give it a more scale rockcrawler appearance. the hardest part was finding a suitable driveshaft extension. the extended housing is made from an ink pen tube, the frame is sheet styrene the new driveshaft is made from an ink tube from another ink pen along with a couple of brass grommets. the rubber band both acts as a swaybar and keeps my extension housing from popping out. this mod has increased the climb performance of my truck 110%. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...74/ssmt019.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...74/ssmt009.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...74/ssmt018.jpg

Cool, it certainly looks like its in better proportion than the stock SS body,,, i may have to try that out and pick one up,, Do they run on the same PCB as the stock SS? wonder if they will come out with a fully loaded with a turbo?

I knew it'd be perfect to stretch! My only question is, how did you lengthen the driveshaft?

if you take apart a retractable ink pen, you will notice that the ink tube has a spring on it. there are two indentions on the tube made to hold the spring on, cut the tube right there and you will find that it fits the rear u-joint perfectly. the other end has a small brass grommet glued to the rear end and the ink tube. i'm pretty sure they use diffrerent pcb's as the car has both turbo and three selectable frequencies. you really wounldnt want a turbo on this truck anyways. i need to find a little taller tire the will fit the stock wheel to make it a little more scale, if anyone knows of a tire that will fit let me know.

I actually made mine a lot faster with a 7.2 volt li-po pack and full propo electronics. An HS55 fits like a glove.

yeah, thats the only thing i don't like is my steering is very weak one direction. i hate to change the electronics because i like charging the battery off of the controler. i actually have a four channel reciever, speed control and servo small enough to fit in the chassis i'd just have to find a good battery pack and get a charger. i may end up starting from scratch and making a chassis and using the axles with a four link setup and standard driveshafts (of course finding ball joints and rod ends that small may be impossible).

Actually, if you used the power wires off the back pcb, you could still use that as a charger.
