Thumbs up mini mauler

Just picked one up at my local shop. They had a working model there. It wasn’t that quick on stock batts and one of the rear shocks had come apart and they didn’t feel like fixing it then so they let me play with it but just no jumping. Would do a wheeling if I threw it from rev to full forward. I figured this was no problem cause I'm going to mod the hell out of it anyway. I got home and first thing I did even before putting the alk batts in, I hooked up a 7.4v 750-lipo batt it fits with a whole bunch of spare room in the batt box. In fact, if I got crazy enough u could probably fit 4 or 5 of them in the box. Only thing I did after my first run (at least 45 min and batt wasn’t full) was cut the slot for the batt wires down farther because it doesn’t come out the batt at the same spot as the aa holder. Well after just putting in the lipo the thing freaking flies! I thought I was going to wind up getting a high end 180 to replace the one that’s in there but honestly its almost overpowered as is. Keeping the front end down when negotiating rocks and other things u roll over is a bit hard cause its so light esp. with the lipo and has crazy torque. Pulling the front up is no problem even if you’re not at a stand still just so long and you’re not on like tile like I was most of the time. Over all the only things I wish it had that it doesn’t are oil filled shocks (upgradeable just need to find some small ones that fit) and 4x4. In a straight line, I wouldn’t doubt it would put most any of its competitors to shame. I haven’t gotten it outside with enough room to really jump it though seems controllable air bourn with throttle as if it was bigger. However, seems like the landings r a bit rough because of the susp. Could be softer without all the rebound. Cant tell yet but it seems that the friction shocks bind up with the travel of landing so it sounds a bit harsh. But not sure yet, worth the money for the quality though. They have some hop ups from the country like ball bearing upgraded motor and I think some battery packs or something. The bushings on it seem slippery enough, motor like I said before with the batt's probably not worth it unless u just want to do wheelies at 1/4 throttle. I put a lipo in it but the 7.2 that they offer I would assume would do the job the same may even be better with more weight to keep the front down. But I give it thumbs up. I might buy a better motor just to tinker and I’m going to try and find better shocks for it so I will keep everyone posted and if I do any significant mods I will do I write up.

so got it out in some dirt today. cant say im as thrilled about it as i was. i retract previous statement of it being over powers for 2 reasons. reason 1 this thing is not a rock crawler or heavy off roader well in stock form. performs more like a stadium truck most likely because of the 2wd. It cant handl much anything bigger than its ground clearance because it puts the front up then flips backwards. at speed it can tackle slightly rougher stuff. 2nd reason cause its more like a stadium and can bounce over stuff at speed why the hell not have more power . With that said i would still like to see more competent suspension on it. seems to just bounce around as it goes over things instead of soaking them up. so next order of business i have decided is to modify for more ground clearance better motor and more weight probly up front. so there it is. havent tried jumping the ramp thats supplied outside yet so yeah.
