Exclamation Rack & Scrub Steering Car ** concept **

The other day I was talking with Nasphere and just kicking around stupid ideas. We can't really make a Diff at this scale yet, so there must be ways to fake it...

One idea I came up with that seems pretty trick but probably difficult to drive was the rack&scrub car. You have a normal steering and driving Bit, but you can also control the rear wheels independently. It's not quite 4 wheel steering yet, but it should be enough to let you drive grip while going sideways.

I'd use: a Bullet Clone, a Tank, and a Booster Bit. Chop rear off clone, tank gearbox to replace it, bit wheels on tank gearbox.

To control it, you'll need the electronics off a 2-speed bit, and do the mod to allow use the two parts of the 3rd channel seperately. You're also gonna have to make a custom weird looking remote: 2 Fwd, 2 Rev, plus Right and Left. You'd have to throw in a a variable resistor or two to get it driving straight, but other than that, it should be good to go.

Then go ahead and get some Fets, dual cell, some bearings, maybe change gear ratios a bit. New body since old one might not fit around everything...

Anyway, all theoretical right now. Probably won't be able to consider starting a project like that for a couple months, have too many started already and light on funds. Thoughts?

Tore my tank open to fix it (one motor dead), turns out the MT "Master" Tanks use a worm in the gearbox, so that's out as a direct swap. Oh well.

Did some exploratory surgery. One of my wired coreless motors unsoldered a field winding. I tore into my box of spares, found some 2.6 Bits. Installed. While I was in there I routed my antenna through a gun mount and got like 1.5" more arial. The good news is 2.6 Bit motors are matched well enough that I don't need a trimmer for the tank now.

I have a spare wired coreless motor now, so I think my Semi is gonna get dual motor, dual drive axle. And now I know that this project isn't really workable in the form I hypothesized.
