XTR motor.

Has anyone tried the new XTR motor from XMODRACING? The one that dosen't require any FET's. I just received the 2 that I ordered, and the things are dog's. Did I do something wrong?

You diddn't break it in.. did you?
Do a wet break in and lube the armature shaft and bearings. (if any)

Carbon brushes absolutely must be broken in to work properly. A stage one half-stalled will run faster than even the fastest non-broken in motor. Dont worry about a wet break in though, just hook it up to a two cell AA battery pack and let the batteries run down (alkys, preferably). Youll be able to hear it change.

Well, I broke the motors in and they still suck. Does anyone know why? At first I left off the little black capacitor or whatever it is on the stock XMOD motors and just used the power wires, when that didnt work I went ahead and installed the black thing. Same results, very slow. This weekend I even put the XTR in my 5 cell and NO SOUP FOR ME. Still slower than the stage 2.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it. If not, I guess I have a couple of $20.00 paper weights.

If this is the case than DONT BUY FROM XMOD RACING!!!
The motors are not what they claim.

27mph. with no fets. (YEAH RIGHT)!!!

Youre the only one whos had problems with them that I know of. Everyone else really likes their motors. Make sure the pinions on all the way, and that there's no arching going on. Also, let it break in for 20 minutes or so, just to make sure. 26 or 27 mph on stock FETs isnt too much to ask, and if he can manage to sell a motor, he's gotta know what he's doing.
