Quick newbie question...

Hi Guys, I'm from Toronto and we just got the xmods here recently. I was bored at work and was thinking of buying a zipzap to entertain myself, and stumbled upon this forum. Lots of good info here...

Anyways, my question...I want to buy an xmod now, other than picking up the starter kit ($70 cdn) and maybe rechargeable batteries will I need anything else, will that be sufficient? I am not really looking into spending too much money right now, maybe keep everything within $100 canadian ($75ish US). Mods can come later.

Went by the local RS and they had a bunch of civics and two supras. Thanks in advance.

If all you want is a car that will last a while, get the base car with rechargeables, and then the metal ball bearings. The plastic wheel bushings are weak and worthless. Mine were worn out in just a week or two.

Also, I'm not sure that the XMODS rechargeables and charger are the best way to go. you can pick up some IC3's and a charger for a bit more and it will charge a lot faster. I personally have a ton of NiMH AAA's, so I stick to my one-hour energizer charger.

If you have enough money left, for fun, I'd suggest stage 2 motors. The stock stage one gets off the line great, but after it's off the line it pretty much goes the same speed.

Thanks man. Where can I get the metal ball bearings from? I dont see them as an xmod accessory on the RS canada website. The stage2 motor is not too expensive, will probably get that.

Someone could send you a set from the US, or there are other bearings that will work in the xmods. I can't remember if the tinyrc.com store sells them or not. Atomicmods.com has some for sale as well that are supposedly better than the xmods ones. I have had good luck with the radio shack bearings.
