axle question aka dont use a blowtorch on yer axles

OK-Been a few days with the bit-soo much fun-got a little ahead of myself reading the posts here and jumped into the mod game. Had a successful antenna mod (simple taking the car apart and pulling out more wire-melting a tiny (buy sweet) hole in the windshield and pulling it through-worked great!
Now the good stuff:
Have a wind up car from DARDA-the thing is an f-1 and has radd wheels-so I figure I want these bitchin wheels on my bit-
well got em on-n it looked k00l-but didnt like the alignment so i decided to 'adjust' them-course to get them on I was heating the axle up with a mini blowtouch-got it close but broke the axle pulling out to try again (sry bout the long story thought u might enjoy it!). Question-I need a bit rear wheel set NOW (as i fiend to play with this thing)-
Will the Hotwheels KIT wheels work-out of the box?
I know the zips will but radio shack in .az sucks and bubba behind the counter thinks its magic that they cant keep zips in stock. Any advice for a quick fix till my other bits arrive?
Thanks.
