I don't think it's the camera, it's the photographer at fault . Note that the camera is focused fine on the background detail.
- Try moving further away, and the focus should improve.
- Try not to use the zoom to get closer shots either, as most cameras have a harder time focusing when you zoom in.
- You have more light behind the body you are shooting than in front. Get the light shining on the body from the side you are shooting.

what type of camera are you using? How many pixels specificly?
One of the biggest problems with getting good pictures is lighting!
Try placing your car on a background of some sort. Make sure you have just the car and the background in the frame.
For a background try using light neutral colors with no patterns and make sure they fill the view finder. Then place your car in the middle of the background and try taking a shot.
If that doesnt come out good try adding some light. Usually you want light to shine from behind the camera onto the subject.
Try experimenting with different types of light (floresecent, incandescent, direct, diffuse).
Good thing we use digitals because electrons are a lot cheaoer than real film. (lol)
Im sure some others can give you more advice.
John
Oh one other thing dont get to close to the car. That appears to be the problem with the shot you posted. Some cameras have the ability to do MACRO shots. Check your owners manual and if your camera has this setting try using it for close up picts.

What I meant was how was everyone getting such close-up shots that were so sharp. It takes fine pictures at a distance but you cant see the detail. And its so cheap it doesnt have a zoom. Thats just the camera on a stand at about 8-10 inches.

Does your camera have either a manual focus, or the ability to hold the button halfway down for it to autofocus?

Its a crappy psuedo digital/wecam with NO features. I just didnt want to spend 200 on a camera that Ill never use. Ive tried a 35mm and that had the best results but too long to develope.

I use my Intel webcam most of the time, because it's closer, but its 'hi-res' is only 6240x480. I use a 5-megapixel Sony DSC-P10 when I really want a good shot.
