Damper oil is for oil shocks which are on most 1/10 scale models

I found an bottle in a box of r/c stuff and I then found my dads old Tamiya Hornet, I saw the book saying the instructions on oil shocks. but I dont know bout the mini-z at all.

just the tamiya hornet and xmods

Peace

ok maybe i should make my question clearer lol. what could i stick in the xmod shock/damper/strut thingy lol w/e it does... it doesnt really work as a damper(doesnt do anything)... something kinda sticky or thick to make it compress like a damper...?

tamiya has a product called Tamiya Sliding Damper grease . package contains three small tubs, hard(purple), med.(blue) soft (green) avail at your LHS
l
the stuff looks like colored silicone grease with the feel of say peanut butter, weird stuff , works wonders.
works great with xmod friction dampers (shocks)
put a tiny dab on end put together and bam! takes the bounce out of them. have used this stuff on larger scale friction dampers

my xmods - med. springs ,soft (blue) grease
hope this helps

btw i wouldnt use "normal" grease or a silicone type...it tends to break down quick

Are you insane...how much heat and friction do you think the dampers get put under?

Grease or silicone would work fine.

if u use typical grease or silicone base the word "breakdown" means that even in these little dampers(or any rc friction damper) it will start to move out of the dampers and make no difference other than a real mess, with the tamiya grease, it stays where u put it

hmmmm lets replace "breakdown" with ...lets see, the word ..."migrate"? hehehe

and no, im not insane just a bit crazy

and for the record.. the little cars, little shocks, low GC make for a lot of bouncing around or slight movement.. but causing a lot of friction.. its suprising actully
