Mounting two motors connected to same gear??
I saw some pix of a car that has two motors connected at once to the same gear. The 2nd motor was piggy backing the first one. I took a look at mines and realized it was almost a perfect fit if you take out the chasis thing that holds the motor down. I plan to do this but I'm not sure what kind of improvements I would see. Would two 2.4 motor result in an equivalent of 4.8 power??? I plan to first wire these two motors to the same battery but I am guessing the single battery won't be able to handle two motors at once. Thus I'm also planning to do the dual battery mod and hopefully that will give it enough juice to put both motors to full speed. What do you guys think?

I think I need to see a pic.... Where did you see this?
Also I've never heard of a 2.4.. Maybe a 2.2 or a 2.6
First and formost, we would like to see a pic or 4...lol

Dual motors driving the same gear?
I'd imagine the ONLY thing gained would be Torgue (for climbing steeper grades), but not speed.

Def, I haven't seen the pic you refer to, but I had the same thought today. The Digi Q is so much faster than the BC-G, and it has 2 cells and 2 motors (one driving each wheel). So, I thought it would really be worth trying a second motor on the BC-G along with the second cell to see if it brings it up to Digi Q speed. It seems like it would really help, especially for high speed motors like the 3.8, as the motors working together would help acceleration a great deal, and more than likely would add to the top end as well. Go for it!

well...even the motors with the same RPM rating (eg; 2.6) run at different speeds. i have two 2.6 motors that are completely different, and having one that goes faster than the other would make all kindsa binding and stuff.

That is a good point, you would have to carefully match them - but it has to be possible, otherwise the Digi Q wouldn't work - if one motor was faster than the other it would just do circles!

There is another way that I've been thinking about. If you examine the metal slug in which you mount the gear on, you'll notice it goes all the way across to the other side. If you somehow push it in a bit so both sides have the metal slug sticking out, you can then mount a gear on both side. You can then mod a rear axel with another gear on it so you now have a rear axel w/ two gears. Then finally cut away at the side away from the engine so that the newly made rear axel can fit. Now mount a 2nd engine facing the opposite direction to power the other wheel. This all looks okay from observation but I'm not sure if this is do-able.

2nd motor
Def, you would probably have to insulate the second motor and wire it back to the first in an OPPOSITE manner, otherwise it would spin the same direction as the first, FLIPPED, so it would actually drive the axle in reverse!
Interesting idea, but doesn't the DigiQ operate one motor on the front and one on the rear? The idea here is driving the same axle without any slip between them--something the DigiQ gets away with. It seems to me that if one motor runs slower on that same axle, it's only going to slow down and work against the other motor. At least on the DigiQ, the motors are not fixed against each other.
On the other hand, perhaps a slower motor gets a hand from the other one and they serve to reinforce each other. Who knows.

Oh but you're forgetting...The DigiQ isn't an on/off drive system like the Bit...You've got circuitry/CPU (or whatever) handling the speeds of the 2 motors (keeping them matched).

Prabbit did this mod. He mounted the 2nd motor over the heatsink. The car did not increase in speed OR torque. he tried to drive it up slight elevations... no luck. No performance boost. Just extra weight. If you want details, just email him over at ausmicro.com, his user name PRabbit.

I think the Digi Q must have some regulator so that the motors go at the same speed.
On bigger models (ie Robot wars) a gyroscope would be used to ensure a straight run.
A gyroscope will keep the car going straight.
May b the digi Q has a small gyro built in?

"ByeBye" on Admiral's Lair has done this too.
He says there is a big improvement in speed.
He used clones, I don't know if that makes a difference?!?!?
Here's his thread on the Lair.
He's got a tutorial with pics HERE.
