I fried mine, by forgetting to turn the car off before a motor swap, the driveshaft shorted out the circuitboard. you can call 1-800-The-Shack (1-800-843-7422) and order this part (found in the XMODS FAQ, Thanks cj!):

12414207 - PCB ASSY RECEIVER $9.49

It's a pain in the boot to get out.

1) Make sure the car's off and Remove the batteries
2) Remove the car's receiver crystal.
3) Take off the rear deck like you're doing a motor swap. Don't forget to disconnect the antenna.
4) Disconnect and set aside the drive motor.
5) Remove the rear motor bell bracket (yellow piece)
6) Slide the battery holders back and pull them outward to remove them from the body.
7) Remove the top cover for the front suspension.
8) Remove the 2 screws nearest the on-off switch on the underside of the chassis.
9) Remove the Screw that was covered by the front suspension cover, near where the Crystal socket is. It attaches the black cover to the yellow bracket that the driveshaft goes through. be careful not to lose the bushing that's in there.
10) Remove the screw at the back of the steering servo.

At this point you should be able to remove the entire electronic guts from the xmods chassis. It consists of the PCB, battery holders, steering servo, and connector that jumps to the drive motor, all connected together with wires. There is a plastic switch that slides into the PCB. It can come loose, so don't lose it. Under the PCB, there is a piece of red thin cardboard, almost like construction paper, insulating the PCB from the metal heatsink. Under the paper, there's a metal tray (heatsink) that the whole radio/servo assembly is nestled into. There is heat transfer grease between 2 chips on the PCB that mates them to the heatsink. I'm inclined to believe those 2 chips are the stock FETS, but I am unsure.

I swapped radio/servo gear between 2 cars, so I don't know what that part looks like when you order it from radioshack directly. You may need to solder some parts onto it. Hopefully at the very least, it comes complete with the antenna wire, battery holders, steering servo, and drive motor connector all attached from the factory. With luck, it will also come ready to drop-in, with a new paper insulator and heatsink. If it doesn't come with a new heatsink, then you'll want to CAREFULLY clean the goo off the heatsink, then use a dab (*small* dab, like half the size of a stock XMODS lug nut) of heatsink paste (lithium grease, Arctic silver, etc) in the middle of each of the 2 chips before putting the reciever back in. If the new PCB doesn't have the plastic switch part, move it over from the old PCB, and make sure it's in the correct position before putting everything back together. Don't forget to put the paper insulator piece between the PCB and heatsink, or you'll fry it even worse when you turn it back on!

best of luck!

I just called them, and asked her to describe the part to me (pull up a photo or diagram. she says it's a PC board with a black cover and some wires coming out of it. so I think you might need to do some soldering, bro.

That's it. It's the Receiver/Electronic Speed Control board. If you need mirrors or body parts you might as well order all that at the same time, too. Check the FAQ for more part numbers.

the board that has wires coming out of it is the Light Kit. i fried mine too along with the servo. i ordered them both and should be coming in on monday or tuesday. I dont think they come assembled. the 2 pcb boards that are included in the reciever assembly should be soldered together already. ill know when i get them.
