Got a zip zap today and it doesnt work!?
GRR I got a zip zap today as a present. I put it all together put fresh batteries in the Tx, turn it on... nothing? wtf. Test the batteries on a multimeter and they are fine so its obviously the Tx. This really sux why would it just not work? Is this a common problem?

Which model did ya get? Did you get an original Zap or one of the SEs?
If it's an original Zap (and as long as you've ensured that the AAA batteries are brand new), I'd be inclined to think it was a defect... take it back to RS for an exchange.
If it's an SE, read the owner's manual carefully, as the channel progamming thing and charging sequence is quite different compared to the original Zaps.

I don't mean to treat you like an idiot, but did you turn the controler on? One time I took apart a controler to troubleshoot, and nothing was wrong. Turns out that you need to flip that switch to on. Who woulda' known...

It's a regular one, Ive played with tons of these at a friends house so I know how to operate them, I even have a bit char-g. It was definetly messed up, it just acted like there weren't batts in it. I opened it up and all the wires looked fine, must have been something more complicated. But I went back and got a SE and it works and I like it more
