gear probs
I just got my xmod for xmas and installed the awd upgrade. the problem i'm having is the diff gear and the shaft gear seem to be slipping and grinding when going from foward to reverse. A split second of this and then it's fine. I installed it correctly and as carefully as possible. It seems that the diff gear is moving back towards the inside of the bulkhead and not meshing correctly with the shaft gear. What could be causing this? Am I going to have to get another AWD kit or another car altogether?

Not sure, I installed an AWD kit a few days ago and I noticed that all 4 wheels would spin a bit when going from reverse into forward, but no grinding or anything. On the front end of the driveshaft there should be a little yellow washer that goes between the middle part of the car and the front diff gear, that might make a difference and let the gear bounce around alot up there... I know cause that's what I did at first and I took it apart and redid it all for that tiny little plastic washer

do you have the alignment pin in the differential. it should be through the middle of the differential and in both sides of the axle. the axle is what you put into the differential. one is long and the other is very short

I just reinstalled my AWD kit on a new car and noticed that the red diff that comes with the AWD kit allows a bit of slippage. That might be what the problem is. It says that this allows for longer life, but I'm not too concerned with that, honestly, so I put on the stock diff and I get much better performance from it. I'm not sure if the AWD diff is supposed to slip like it does, but I know I was losing alot of power from it.
