Question Rechargeable batteries in Tx?

hello, I was just reading the online MicroSizers manual, and stumbled accross a line that said 'install fresh Alkaline batteries,..... do NOT install rechargeable batteries'. Can anyone explain why/ if this is true? Id really like to use the NiMH or NiCADs I have but If this is true I guess Ill be constantly buying Alkalines . Thx for any input in advance.

Have seen this queston on this and other micro RC car site. That same worrding is in most all of the manuals for the bulk of the micro cars.

This is my own oppion for no recharagable and I can be wrong.

Two reason:

1) Lower voltage limit. There is a chip from Realtek inside that has a operaing range of 2.2v to 5.0 volts. With two recharagable your getting 2.5v not 3.0 as with two Alk. Being 0.3volts about the bottom limit is a bit thin to have but 0.7 is much better!

2) Limiting factor for recharging. Or basically a Alk can only produce only so much current around 450ma and no more while a nicad or other type can put out 1.6amp or 1600ma. To regulate that for charging for any power source would take more costly componets and designed. By using a Alk and it max draw limit would allow a simpler designed. Since you charge a bat with current. Too little current and it takes forever to charge. Too much current and you have a bomb on your hands!

Hope that helped.

We run NiMH's in our remotes and they work great. Take it from someone who has actually tried both.

thx for the answers guys. After thinking about it, NiMHs and NiCADs do have a lower voltage, so that would be a no no. Can you buy rechargeable lithiums? about how much $$$? and what about rechargeable alkalines?.........I just really......really hate normal alkaline batteries ....thx
