Track
Hi folks!
I thinking about building a track. I need infos about that. Do you think a 14 inch (35 cm) wide lane should do it? And the range of the track should be as small as possible. I planned a range of around 7' (feet? 2,3 m) to 10.5' (3,26 m). But I don´t know if this would be enough fun. Has anyone an idea if this is ok for a track to make fun? Or should I make it al little bigger?

Build a Track part#1
Ok!
We have ordered our Epochs and waiting for them. Till they arrive we are planning and building a track. We will make this track of quadrat plates of carpet. These cost 50 cents for one plate (15.76^2 inch). We take 7 plates per row and 5 per column thats 35 plates total (around $17,5) for our track. We already made a drawing of it:

This Track will be 280 cm (110.32 inch ) to 200cm (78.8 inch). the lane is 25 cm (9.85 inch).
we will inform you how exciting this track will be or if we have to change something to make it more fun.
this track will be portable then. a case for the carpet squares would be nice to carry it around.
the lane parts will be reusable in different combinations, only few will be special and usable for limited tracks.
the lane border will be sprayed with white and the rest with green paint.
we still don´t know how to make the curps and attach borders between the lanes. but well tell you when we found out s.th.
can anyone tell me whats the right sign for inch?
and how is curps spelled right?

That track looks cool. What are those carpet plates and were you got them?
I made a modular track of 12" styrene (lights cover) plates with 10" wide lanes. I made it originaly for my Bit Char-g, but I'm using it with my 2 new Epochs. It's a little tight especially on the curbs but it's fun anyway.
I'm using 2 layers of 1/4" rope nylon for barrier. One stick on top of the oder with hot glue. I's preaty nice. Stop the cars without hurting the paint, bouncing the cars to the oder side nor making to much drag when hitting the wall.
Hope this could help you

Track tested and found to be fun!
Track building HowTo:
You need:
35 carpet squares (look pic)
2 aerosols white paint
2 aerosols green paint
HowTo:
First you make patterns for each type of lane you need (bend, straight, diagonal). One pattern ist to spray the green paint and one for white
Pic from carpet squares:

then you have one square ready. For each different lane-type you need a pair of pattern and a few special ones for start/end and boxes.
It´s a lot of work to do, but it´s worth it. Believe me!
We made our track like on the drawing except that we decided to make the lane 11.82" (30cm) instead of 9.85" (25cm).
And now ta ta ta taaaaaaa! Our Track:
