Will this work?

Would the electronics from an Kyosho mini-z (servo, speed control and receiver ) work with a Tripmate. I am assuming the receiver/ speed control board may not be a problem but the servo may be a cause for concern because it doesn't look like a regular micro servo. If it looks physically possible please let me know. I will figure out the rest.

Btman, I would say it would be possible, but not straightforward. The ESC/RX would be a great candidate for the wide open Kawada chassis, but like you say, the servo would be the tricky part. The Kawada's tie-rod style steering (not to be confused with the so called tie-rod in the Mini-Z which is just a notched shaft) is expecting to be connected to a servo horn, which is not present on the Mini-Z's specialized servo. I would just get a micro servo to replace the Kyosho rather than trying to mechanically alter the Mini-Z servo in order to make it usable. Let us know if you do go ahead with this project, we'd be very interested in the results. Thanks!

Btw, if you have the board handy, remind me of the measurements and I'll compare to the space in the Kawada.

The receiver/speed control board is 1 3/4" long by 13/16" wide. I think you are right about trying a micro servo. If I give this a try, I will keep you posted.

I'm sure Kawada did this on purpose, in the same way that many other Mini-Z parts are direct fit or can be easily made to fit: the cavity is 1 7/8 " x 1 3/8" so the Mini-Z ESC/Rx will fit no problem.
