Xmods are a very good thing!

I've been looking into RC for a good while but i could never really afford a Stadium Truck or anything like that then came along the Xmod it's cheap , it's ideal to me because i'm always messing with my Honda now i can mess with My Xmod when ever i want , and it's made pretty well from what i've heard.

I'm getting my Xmod this week probably the Skyline or Civic and i'm kinda wondering which way i should go with this thing. So whats a good setup? I wanna keep it pretty simple but at the same time have a decent performing car i'm not really speed hungry either so that's not much of a concern.

Well thanks for hearing me out!

the blue civic is hot, and the kit that u can buy makes the car look really nice. the awd is a must for good handling, i think the bearings are also a must. if you want to spend a lil more, you could even get the suspension, wheel, tire, light, stage 1 or 2. overall the x mod is good, also be sure to get some rechargeables

I can spend around $80.00 to $90.00 on the Xmod and upgrades that's also including the Batt's.

I wanna drift my car but i'm worried that it might screw it no?

if you wanna drift ied say ur gonna have to have the stage 2 motors and awd, before i got my awd i could drift with the stage 2's but it was really hard to do
but ied say get a car, stage 2 motor's and awd those will make the biggest improvements in the car
later u can get the springs for 7 bux lights for 5 body kit for 12
jus whenever u get the cash

I was gonna get Springs and tires.....I dunno?

I don't think i could really afford anything like the AWD kit or bearings right now...i'll just use it as it is when i buy it and the springs and stuff and just upgrade more later.

Either way it's still fun!

Not to insult the x-mods, but for that kind of money you could probably get a stock mini-z racer too.

Remember i'm new to RC so i don't know to much about it.
And from what i've heard Xmods are Newbie friendly and you can make them just about or as good as any other small scale RC car.

That's all that matters to me right now.

Some good batteries are the ones sold for the XMODS. It is only $24.99 which includes a charger and 8 AAA batteries. Definately worth the money.

That's where the XMODS are really cool.... You could just take it out of the box and drive it, but there's also some more advanced things you can do to make it run bettter, but aren't really necessary. Great thing if you ask me.

I never tried the RS rechargeables but I have seen so many arguments against the alkalines followed with good explanations. The problem with those alkalines is that the voltage drops under load to about the same as rechargeables (1.2v-1.25v), and after a short period of 10+ minutes, the output starts to decline steadily. The rechargeables have a very constant power output until they are nearly completely drained, whether they are NiMH or NiCd. As far as common aaa batteries go, it seems like NiCd have a slightly higher current but somewhat short life span, NiMh has a long and steady output, and alkalines have a long life and good initial output that drops steadily (a half-dead alkaline doesn't perform like a half-dead NiMH battery at all).

The mini-z users have often praised the Rayovac rechargeables. Keep in mind they have specific batteries for use with specific quick chargers. They have a 15 minute charger out now, as well as a 1 hour charger. I found a cheaper 2 hour charger from Lenmark that works alright, though I don't like the quality of their batteries. rcmart.com / d i n b a l l sells an inexpensive 45 minute charger, dual voltage, and they also offer some pretty good 800 mah NiMH aaa batteries. Shipping will cost you a little, but its not THAT bad.
