need some assistance

okay i've been diong the basic upgrades to my xmod (everything you can buy at RS) well yesterday i went out to test drive it again and if it gets more then 5 feet away it looses reception its really annoying i used to be able to go from one end of a basketball court to the other now i can't go more then 5 feet. the wire w/ the metal plate that scrwed to the antenna broke off. it was then that the problem started i stripped the end of the wire and wrapped it around the antenna. w/ same results. i then soddered it back to the plate same thing. i then switched EVERYTHING(i mean everything i stripped it down including the crystal) from my car to my buddies Skyline. it worked fine for sometime but still had a little shorter range but not enough to worry about. then the wire broke again, same problem resodered same problem. ANY HELP PLEASE I"M SORRY FOR THE LONG POST. these things are so kewl but this is sooo annoying.

happened to me. i had my skyline for like 2 days, then i got awd and stage 2 and once i got it all on the range went to like 5 feet. i too tried everything and gave up. took everything off and made it stock again, and then returned it. got a new one, slapped the stage 2 and awd back on and it works.

Could be the crystals, try new ones. Could be that you fried the receiver when you did your solder job too. If you left your iron on the receiver wire too long this may have ocurred. If the crystals do not work take a look at the electronics and see if anything looks out of whack.

something you might want to do is go out and get some really good wire and replace the crap wire they use in the xmod. i plan on doing this this weekend.
