Talking breaking the tires loose

hey y'all. here is what im running for drifting.

awd
red front/blue rear
hard slicks all around
stage 2 yellow
5-cell

i think thats it. i see to still get too much grip. can someone help me out on how to break the tires loose without lube of some sort? i use the feint or power-over style.

Well, if you can't lube or otherwise alter the tire surface, then I'd suggest using a different approach to the turn or changing the rear axle setup.

Did you use the LSD from the AWD kit? i just left it out and it seemed to want to drift more, oh and what kind of floor are you drifting on? i drift on a Raquet ball court, so i think your best bet is to use the masking tape method otherwise you get way to much grip on the rear wheels, hey just go get a 180 motor and i think you won't have a problem.

*Edit* slide your batts all the way forward too, that's gives a good amount of help with wieght transfer.

I would sudjest trying hard tred front & rear. Try the Stage 2 Purple. I did that, and when I hit the gas on a smooth surface, the tires spin before the car moves forward. On carpet, if you time it right, you can do a compleate rollover and land on the tires. (Remove your mirrors or you might break them off)

first, im running on polished walnut. second, i moved the batteries to the front. third, i hear that hard slicks give the least grip. this is what i'm using. i have red springs in front, blue in back. i think i just may have to use masking tape.

i just put some ZZ tires on a set of extra rims and i put them on just the rear for now but they give a little less than the hard slicks i was using. those might help

Go with the drift motor, it's called that for a reason.

Also, just experiment with springs, thats probably the best way to go at it.

EDIT: I just saw that you're running alkalines. Rayovac IC3's are your best bet.

Am I missing something?

No one has said anything about the AWD setup. Wouldn't a RWD setup be more conducive to drifting?

Not that you can't drift on AWD, I just thought it was easier on RWD.

wha????

I had NO trouble drifting with EVERYTHING being stock other than 6-cells and stage-2 yellow. I'd suggest losing the AWD.

in rc's it doesn't matter what drivetrain you run, because the thing is only so big, using the awd is just more forgiving so you don't have to use extreme steering to get the thing to drift. and as for the springs yellow up front rather thatn the red is a much better setup, i tried them all and it seemed to wark the best, and as for tape, just masking tape them, it's not cheating it's improving a design.

I find it near impossible to drift with RWD, at least on a concrete floor. I'm not sure what you consider "good" drifting (maybe upload a video of you drifting?), but when I try to drift with RWD I end up spinning out every time. I've tryed every style and I've yet to be able to do anything I'm satisfied with.

I also haven't seen anyone else able to drift with RWD. So I'd like to see what Schr-eng and theMonster consider drifting.
