The land speed record was set by the Thrust SSC at 766.109 mph in 1997, which was jet powered. The fastest recorded for an internal combustion engine was set in 1965 at 409.277 mph.

Oh man you had every one but the most pertinent.
How fast is the fastest electric car?
or
The fastest RC car?
hmmm, or..
The fastest TinyRC car?
Total fiction here but:
I'm picturing a 3ftlong Zip Zap with like 47 cells and the back end of an arrow glued to the back to keep it stable at speed.
It's dumb, but it reads funny.

there are rc cars that reach well over 200mph but they only go in circles because it would be hell to control it ill look for the site with video and stuff later.

Last I heard, around '99 they were running over 120 miles an hour. They were using 1/10 scale chassis, most custom made, but similar to a HPI pan car, and were running like 16 cells. They were having a problem with their tire ripping off, and once they lost control they would go into the wall and shatter into dust.
I heard that they had developed new tire compounds, and that's just what I rememeber from an article I read in RC Car Action a few years ago, so I'm sure they've gone faster than that by now.

Yeah those RC-10L 's are damn fast. I used to have one that did about 50 mph. But we were just talking mini's in this forum (it is for mini rc's right?).

11mph aint tha fastest minirc. i went 2 las vegas a few months ago for a huge rc show/race event. i clocked my zz at 9mph and my bit char-g at 13mph! but maybe u r only talking about zz's.
the fastest zz i saw at the show hit 13.89mph, but it wasnt using the factory electronics it had some custom chip&wiring.
the fastest 1/64 scale rc period was a japanese "skyrunnerGT-R" that hit 20+mph!
