I was wondering if I could replace / cut the wire of my futaba receiver. It is currently white and it gettting kind of dirty and old looking in part because it is way too long, so I wanted to replace it with a black shorter wire.. any thought? where can I get this wire?

You could use anykind of cable with the same diameter and flexibility. Keep the same length of the old one. since sometimes the shorter cause bad receiving.
Goodluck.

You also could use guitar/piano string about 25-30cm long. How about that?

be careful. i got chewed out by the LHS, they told me that they make the wire a specific size for each reciever. if it is too long you can coil it or wrap it to make it shorter. or just go with an internal. if you cut it you risk loosin some range
