thats what im saying. someone told me that their stage 2 xmod can even beat their overland. i need to try that out some time soon. overlands are great to run but way slower than a minix or miniz racer

So it kinda like the Mini-X is a viper and the XMODS are like a Corvette? (you pay more but you get more) Thanks for the help.

your miniz racer stock must be broken! the miniz overland has the same motor as the racer but is geared down to give more torque for climbing (45 degrees said on the box) it has a pinion idle gear then the diff gear. the miniz racer pinion is in direct link to the diff gear. for speed you miniz racer should be able to kill the overland. but if you throw in a hill, the mz racer wont be able to climb it like that ol can....
if you miniz racer is that slow i would take a look at it to make sure nothin is wrong with it

I prefer my ABC DTM X4 over an Xmod ANYDAY. X4's are AWD and I put a Team Orion Elite Modified Coreless motor in it and it SCREAMS!
I have to say though that the down side to the X4 is the lack of mods (I think they're discontinued actually).
So, I'm having a lot of fun with my Xmod as well. For me, modding cars is more than 75% of the fun.

I have a minix and an xmod. I like the xmod much much better. The stupid pinion gear on my minix keeps coming lose, I tried to fix it and it just got bound up, then fried my esc. And as far as being hobby grade, imo, none of these small little rc cars are hobby grade. They never seem to be as flexable and upgradable as a real hobby car thats of 1/8 or 1/10 scale. You want a real hobby car, go buy a mad force kit or something. I run my rustler far more than any of my micros. But hey, they are still fun arent they? And they look super cool sitting on my desk

I just want to clarify something here.
This is a Mini-X v. Xmod thread right? Not Mini-Z v. Xmod.
I have a Xmod, Mini Z, and X4 but no Mini-X.
I do have the Micro Monster found
HERE which seems to "borrow" parts from the Mini-X. I'm actually not very happy with this Micro Monster (not to be confused with PTI Racings upcoming Micro Monster - which I can't wait to get).

I prefer my Nitro TC3 . It doesn't need any mods, just a REAL big parking lot!
I prefer the nice-looking, detailed bodies of XMODS and Mini-zs. They shure beat the Mini-x's lexans in terms of appearance. For the price XMODS are good enough for garage drifting and chasing my cats. The only thing I can really race here in San Antonio (RC non-capital of the world ) is my nitro. There is a Mini-z track, but it's an oval .
