slot car motors?

well i have heard alot of people sugesting slot car motors for xmods but i have been pondering if it would be worth while to do so. i did find a motor that was 45,000 rpm but aparently the torque on it isnt verry good. the second thing i asked myself was how would i power it for any decent amount of time and properly power on and heres what i came up with. 2 9v batteries. one on each side to keep the car balanced and it would have more then enough power to run the motor. to mount them all you would need to do is put velcro on the cells and the chassis. who knows maybe if i get bored enough i'll try doing this.

might fry instead of fly.
The 9V batteries have a very low mah rating- like around 150-200.
Slot car motors are usually 12v.
Try and find the mini 4wd motors from tamiya- They cost less too. Your LHS(local hobby shop) can order them. I really recomend the torque tuned motor. it's fun!
They have the stats listed on the back of the package- for half the voltage you will be running at.

yes slot car motors are 12v thats why i would use 2 9v batteries to make 18v. i really dont think the motor would fry i have a 3v motor i run in my micro and i have 10v going to it and havnt had a single problem with it over heating or anything.

That all depends on if it will fit. A stock 1:24/1:32 scale Slot-car motor which is a 16D size will not fit in the Xmod Chassis without enlarging the center of the chassis. As for the voltage a Slot-car motor can run on a lower voltage and with the right armature it can run on 4.8 volts. I have seen one run very quickly in a 1:18 scale RC car with 7.2 volts.

i can see there will be several post following this about how your cars dont work any more. those slot motors will kill your car. they draw a higher voltage and a way higher amp...they run of of wall juice people!! thats 120volts! but hey if it works then it works. does anyone know how many volts exactly the xmod can take. cause over 9v sounds a bit high for a toy. the only escs i know that can take that kinda power run for no less than $160. and if thats the case, plenty of hobbyist will be junkin them and grabbin xmods for their esc's
