Xmods with Standard Controllers? Help
Anybody tried a standard perfex or M8 controller? The cystals are standard 27mhz and work in my sotck z with an M8, but no luck controlling the Xmod.

I would like to buy one and compare it to my mini-z but if regular transmitters dont work you can forget that, it should work just fine and I dont see why it wouldnt.

Hi, I'm new to TinyRC. Probably the reason the radios don't work is the type of pulse code might not be compatible. Airtrinics, Futaba, JR and others don't always work with one anothers receivers even if they all use AM. Some have a negative pulse and some have positive pulse. There is AM, FM and PCM modulation also. although I think all 27MHZ radios use AM.

I don't see why either, as I said, the crystal sets work fine with a mini-z and either the perfex or M8 and can you beleive 6 pair for less than 20 bucks!!
I am aware that in the FM band there are differences between manufacturers and their cystal sets, but wasn't aware it crossed over into the AM 27mhz range. Live and learn..........
I am still at a loss as to why it doesn't work. Any electronics gurus out there who have the xmod and standard transmitters, clue us in, especially if there is a fix!!
Thanks!

I'm not a guru, but I believe the problem is the fact that xmods are not true propo and mini-z controllers and others are.

I suspect too
you can sort of feel the stepping of the wheel and trigger on the xmod controller as you manipulate them. like when you pull the trigger on a slot car controller.
the truly proportional signal of the perfex must be lost on the xmod.
