TTTT/PowerBrute
I am a totaly newby, and want to get started with an offroad tiny RC with my boy, does any company make an entry level Truck/4X4 with decent control? Is the the Power Brute the only option I have for a store bought truck/4X4 that can ride on most carpet? Any input is appreciated.

Superdude, you could have at least given some insight...
Anyway, The powerbrute is probably the easiest 4x4 you can find. Everywhere I go there are some in stock. Only thing is that they are $30 Another option is the Kidriffic 4x4 truck, people say you can get it at Toysrus, but I havent been able to find it yet. I need it for the two batteries, and the tank style steering. There are some threads about the kidriffic truck in other topics on this board, just search for kidriffic. Hope this helps

The PowerBrute isan't 4wd... Is it? I thought it had steering not tank steering because that would be kinda hard to make that small of axles...

I say get a p-brute and see how your kid likes it. If he gets bored and/or fed up, then fine. If he gets interested, upgrade to a ZZSE, and then to a set of Pico gear. I'm still on the ZZSE stage....although if I can find a truck, I have some stuff ready to go.
