Best Motor FOUND!
OK, the experiments are over. Contrary to popular fear, the new Zip does not produce the same measly output-it just needs the right motor. Specifically, the "fury rotor" from driftkingshop.com. Unfortunatly, he stopped selling them. It is a normal Zip-style can, with a red-orange endbell. This motor has more tourqe and speed than all my others, but i do not have an NX to test it against.
Of course, my old blue civic could not even turn the fury rotor But the new zips still put up a fuss when it comes to motors, they seem to prefer the coreless ones, the bit kind just don't cut it.

How about the quest for the best readily available motor... With a good combination of speed and torque...?
Maybe others can post their suggestions/findings on this thread!

Extrememicros motors work well and I've had good results from the zip motors. The perfection 3.8s are good too. My favorite motor in the se is the EM 3.5.

Here's what I've come up with after trying all the Zip motors, TRC's R-Spec II, Formula 34, Bit Char-G Motors pink endbell 3.8 Perfection 3.8, and 4.2 pro. My un-scientific test were done with the greeen 9.86:1 gears
The stock Zip motor is powerful, but slow. The yellow endbell 2.4 isn't much faster, and lacks power. The Orange endbell 2.8 is faster, and has enough power. The purple endbell 3.4 has the highest top speed, and excellent power too. Since that was the best of the Zip motors, that's what I compared the rest too.
The R-spec, and pink endbell 3.8 totally lack bottom end power, and weren't suitable to these cars at all. The Formula 34 was very similar to the ZZ 3.4, but just a teeny tad slower. The Perfection 3.8 had slightly more top speed than the ZZ 3.4, but lacked the power when you slowed down. The 4.2 was just ever so slightly faster than that, and had a bit more power than the 3.8, but it was not that much faster than the ZZ 3.4, and did not have as much power either.
So what I've determined is the ZZ purple endbell 3.4 is the best combination of speed and power, and was the only motor of the bunch that was able to put my car on it's roof.
I'll have to check out EM's motors.

I find that the 28,000 rpm ZZ motor is good for regular driving because of added torque. The ZZ 34,000 rpm motor is good for all out speed. I will probably be getting an R-Spec II soon so I will test it too.

Uhhh... The NX is the purple endbell right? If so, i think we have a winner.

What is the best gears to use with the 3.4? I think the blue or green do better than the red. I prefer the blue but, I was just wanting to know what you guys think.

I prefer the blue, because I like my cars to be punchy, but I think I'm likeing the green ones with the SE, because when you ease off the throttle it doesn't seem to slow down as drastically.
