i have a problem with the new 2F2F motor

I'm running 27 mhz zip zap (it is an old one that came with a black civic body). I recently bought a couple 2F2F street tuner kits. While the weaker engine (the orange 28000 rpm) works fine, the other purple one (34000 rpm) does not work. The car barely moves in reverse and takes a long time to get started going forward. I've tried other 34000 motors, all with the same result. I also noticed that the motors are somehow magnetized, which is different from the other motors that worked for me (i.e. it sticks to my screwdriver while others don't). I would guess that this is the cause, but as I've said before, all the other 34000 engines do the same. Any other ideas? Was this made for a 49 mhz car or something?

I have to agree with that, you're gonna have to buy one of the newer starter kits. I have a steel blue PT Cruiser (version 2 PCB) and my nephew had one of the original red Mustang Cobra (with the first version of the PCB).

I bought 2 of the 2F2F Street Tuner Kits for me and him, and his Cobra wouldn't hardly budge with the purple motor in in it, while my PT Cruiser didn't have any problems.

We went to RS and got him one of the new 2F2F starter kits (27mhz, version 3 of the PCB), and it flys right along with my Cruiser now -

(edit) Forgot to mention, you gotta love these nutz at RS! - You have questions, we have answers... yeah right! When I told the RS guy why we were buying the new starter kit for my nephew, he said that he owned all of the ZipZaps and accessories, and that there was NO difference in the PCBs LOL. I corrected him, saying that there were indeed three versions of the PCB, and this was a common symptom of the older versions with the faster motors.

He still argued about it although I showed him pics of the first two PCB versions LOL. Then in his wealth of knowledge, he overcharged me for another part I was buying, and sold my nephew the wrong Lithium battery that's shown on the ZipZaps web site for the LED thing. The one that he sold us was WAY too big to fit in the ZipZap, ended going back to the store to buy the *correct* battery, and get a refund for the part that he overcharged me for... aarrggghhh...

naw, the car barely budges with an old PCB, especially in reverse. as for going forward, it takes a while before it builds up enough speed to actually move. but since you can't really go in reverse, you can't stop. anyways, i'd just like to say thanks to everyone who participated in this discussion; it was really informative and helpful.

Apparently I just bought one of the older ones with the first kind of PCB(red cobra starter kit). I sure hope it's not the kind that wont run the fast motors...Can someone show me a picture of the difference in the PCB's so I can compare to mine?

same here...

I just bought a black cobra today too but I haven't opened it yet.
Can someone tell us the difference in the boards?
I was also wondering what models would be safe to buy.(the ones with the newer pcb's) Is the black cobra ok to run the NX motor? I'd hate to open it and not have it work...

Check this thread. If you buy any of the newer X2 or 2F2F starter kits, you shouldn't have any problems at all with the faster motors -

Anyhow, if the black Cobra doesn't work you could always return it for a refund.
