Something Weird

I've noticed something weird. We have members (a lot of them from what I can tell) that are members of this forum and the unnamable one. That's fine. The double posting gets tedious, but is to be expected. The weird thing is that when some of them are over there, they dis this forum. And, when they are here, they dis the other forum. I don't browse the other forum that often, and wild horses couldn't get me to join it again, but I do occasionally look over the threads to see what is going on. I started noticing that the same members are in both places. They have different names and different avatars, but it's easy to tell who is who. Some have the same name and avatar. Like I said, no problem. I'm not sure why anyone would want to actively be a part of that forum because of the heavy handedness of the moderators, but that's not my call (actually, I think some of you guys LIKE the way you're treated over there since many of you start acting like the mods after awhile). It does bother me when some of them say negative comments about this forum, when I know they are active members here. And that they say negative comments about the other when they are here. Talk about two faced people! Just one of those many things in life that seem to make no sense.

Actually azimov it's clear as glass to me. Most of the "kids" that frequent both sites are just that, children. They have the natural tendency to fit in. This means monkey see monkey do. I used to frequent both boards but I was soured by the other forum for the same reasons everybody has been. I also haven't seen anything interesting or new over there in months. I still try to help people once in a while over there but my activity has droped next to nada.
I will always choose tinyrc over any other forum.

*Edit-
I have to add that the tinyrc store is full of goodies and that makes it easy to support this board.

That's an excellent reply. I hadn't considered that. I've noticed that the ones copying the harsh attitudes are the kids too. And I agree, this is the best forum on the net concerning this hobby. No doubt about it.

Hey! I go to both. I just go there for reading up on Epoch & Mini Z stuff. I'm on pretty good terms with OTP too. Nothing but good things to say about him. But to be honest if I bought anything from a fourm store...Tiny RC no hesitation. I like this fourm better but I like some of the people on the other side too including Mustangkid (now BossMustang), OTP, Afro Puff..few more that I forget the S/Ns of)

Could you state for us exactly how old you are nouseforaname?

Otp can sometimes be a lil uppity, you'll see. You must be new to their site or maybe they've changed. You will also see whole threads and posts being erased, not closed but totally erased, especially if you make a mod or asst. admin look stupid I do know that the moderators that were fair are no longer there, of their own vilition, and some kissas* kids have become moderators.
If you like it there then good for you, that forum does have it's pluses. Unfortunatly for me it has way to many negatives.

Good for you! I have no beef with anyone over there. It's more of an overall feeling the forum instigates. I didn't post this to single anyone out or bash the other forum. But, on second thought, it may have been a bad idea.
edit: Sessiz speaks the truth. It may take some time, but you'll see it. It took me three days.

I used to hang over there, and for a short time was leaning in that direction, but I got sick of the forced structure and clic-iness.
Even kept trying to hang in the supposed "chat" but couldn't find anyone to talk mods with, just babbling.

I tried hanging at RCMod, but they wouldn't post pics of my cars, and grossly oversimplified my mods when interpreting them on the site, even with me sending detailed descriptive text.
Mostly, there's just no new ground being broken there, sorry RC, nothing personal.

I hated THIS forum for a short time because of it's lack of structure, but learned to appreciate the openess of the ideas exchange, even if it means dealing with a high noise level.
(As mentioned, mostly kids right?)

I also had a "don't buy from either" policy becuase of the feud.

I now only hang here, and if I wasn't doing as well at my LHS and scrounging, I'd be ordering stuff from here like a b stard!

If you look, I'm sure you'll see all kinds of stuff from me saying the exact same thing you described though.

I'm much better now.

Screw those guys!
(see?)

i am also a member of a couple of forums, but post on this one mostly. i have noticed here lately the number of useless threads like "do you like me." i hate to leave such a good site just because everyone is talking about the new episode of Power Rangers and things of that nature. that is fine in the off- topic area or something but not in the zipzap forum. i also understand that alot of peaple that buy zipzaps happen to be pretty young, and that is fine but please post something of significance..thanks

I ran into the RCMod Forums before I found this and they both have strong points. In my book this is how they play out:
Pros:

RcMod--------------|----------------Tiny RC
1.Tons of Mods | 1.Great Forums/community
2.Store with |2.Store with lots of cars
tons of parts |3.Alot of ZZ Stuff

Cons:
RcMod--------------|----------------Tiny RC
1.Slow Moderatly |1. Not many step-by-step
active forums. | mods
2.Not much in |2. Not as many parts and
the way of ZZs | motors and other doodad stuff
3. Can't buy cars | in shop.
in the shop. |3.Sometimes hyper-active
forums with useless topics

not to be harsh but this is becoming another useless thread about how ppl dont like the "other" forum and how everyone likes this forum. i like this forum way better that the other too. but you gotta admitt kids are gunna be the most domminitt in the micro rc forums cuz grown-ups youshally arent into these type of things. theres good thing about both forums and bad things and its gunna be like that forever. so you gotta deal with it.

Actually, I don't see it as useless at all. Many of us are members of both forums and many more. We know what the score is, and there is no problem in discussing it. Namuna has been kind enough to reopen this topic as long as we keep it civil. No name calling or out and out bashing. Just the facts folks. In the short time I was a member of the other forum, I tried posting my concerns there. I tried talking to the Admin. privately and all it got me was booted. Y'see, you can't talk about it there. You'll get locked, banned, your posts lowered, or publicly humiliated. So, where do you talk about it then. Right here of course. See, this forum believes in free speech. It supports the truth, even if it isn't what those in charge want to hear. That's a great thing and not even close to useless. Once you have your opinion suppressed, you begin to really appreciate those that will let you state them openly. That's what America used to be all about. Do you remember that? Maybe not, it was a long long time ago.

Yup, that's the drill over there for sure. If you disagree with a mod, you're pretty much doomed. That's what folks called fascisim in the sixties. I mean, you can't tell a mod to shut up or disrespect them for doing thier job, even on this forum. But, a simple disagreement about mundane RC chatter is really harmless. But, the mods over there will bounce you if you they feel you one upped them on something. They seem to have forgotten that the forums exist for the members and not for the amusement of the administration.
I never really understood how they could lower a person's post number as a punishment. For that matter, I never understood why they felt the need to punish members in the first place. I mean, if they lower your posts, do they also lower the number of total forum posts? And itsn't that detrimental to the forum as it makes the forum seem to be less used? Surely, they lower your post number, but keep overall post numbers the same, which means the total posts don't match the actual posts. This implies a bit of creative bookkeeping on post numbers. I could be wrong of course, but the fact that a small faupa will get your posts lowered from 500 to 25 is really a mean thing to do and is much more harsh than the original transgression. But, as the respectful Capt. Black once told me, "When all you have is a hammer, everything starts looking like a nail." Great guy, and one of the few that I still have respect for.
