I bought one from QFM, and its awesome. I bought a 3.0 there also, and mine seems to be performing about as well as some other people here who picked up the 3.0 lucifers. That is to say it doesnt really work at all. The 3.8 works better then you could imagine, though, and I have never read anything but good reviews of them. The only real trick seems to be that you have to break them in before you start using them. So if you get one just run it on your car for 3-4 charges without any gears or axles on the car. I had just swapped in a new NIMH battery, so just charged it twice, and ran the car for about 20 minutes while i watched t.v. and the 3.8 worked perfect.

Just a Question... What do you guys think would be the best for racing (fastest) is the 3.8 really the best or are the other mottors that are better. I hear that the 3.8 is hard to control so I think I'm gunna go with a 2.6 or slower

*I need a new motor cause my stock 1.0 is fried. So I wanna see what is the most prefered motor for racing, cause that's all I do *RACE*

i would think its hard to get a reliable 3.8 motor cuz the higher the rpm in real car engines, the less reliable it is. since you need more maintance because the car's motor is working soo much harder than the regular motor/engines.

I race at work around my desk with a 3.8 and dont have any trouble with turns, but I have a lot of room to work with. I guess it would just depend on the track to decide what motor to use. Also I've never noticed any posts about the reliability of the 3.8 motors. YMMV

[tT]Skyline, it depends on the track, but basically the 3.8 cannot be beaten for speed. You may want to try a 3.2 for a little more control:

Don't get a TOMY 3.0, they tend to fail very quickly.

Depends on track...

No doubt, Tiny RC is right... depends on track type.

Heres a brief breakdown:

1.0 (blue) - parallel parking & obstacle course
1.6 (green dragon rotor) - Multisurface track & elevated terrain
2.2 (yellow) - Tight track lots of turns
2.6 (orange) - wider track less turns
3.0 (red lucifer rotor) - oval type tracks only
3.8 (pinkslip rotor)- Sim. Qtr. Mile Drag Racing!!!

Only the first five motors listed are genuine Tomy motors. The 3.8 is available in two flavors... Custom-made KC Special (US - green) and the OEM Pink Slip Rotor (HK - Pink).

QFM & TIny - thanks guys, yea I think I'm gunna get a 2.2 for racing cause my track was made with a big massive peice of plywood, the track is fairly big but most of the turns are pretty tight. so I think a 2.2 would be good for that. and I'll of coarse get a 3.8 for the hell of it. ppl say it's fun on big tracks and messing around with.
